I am a mum and housewife with the love and passion for organising anything from small gatherings to huge parties or weddings. I have always gained great enjoyment from creating family parties whether it be a birthday celebration, a Halloween party or a Christmas get-together. When I got married it made total sense for me to plan and organise the whole occasion myself with the odd input from my partner (of course!). For years now I have been called upon by family and friends to help with their parties not only because I can physically help out with set up and clean up but I can also come up with original ideas and be very creative.
The approach I take to event and wedding planning is that every event whether big or small is just as important to me as any other and I will always give 100% to any occasion I’m involved with. I believe that my clients should be involved as much or as little as they would like and I provide my services to compliment them. Whether it’s coming up with an idea that my client likes or to plan and organise the whole event I am happy to get involved and make every occasion a big success.
From all the different types of events I have organised in the past including baby showers, christenings, birthdays, weddings, themed events etc. I have a lot of experience to offer to anyone that needs an event or wedding planner. From a young age I’ve always possessed strong character traits that make me well suited to be an event and wedding planner e.g. being organised and having great interpersonal skills. I was always organised with my school work and my bedroom at home. I had a place for everything and everything was in its place. This has journeyed with me into adulthood. At work before having my son I used to be a personal assistant so I’m used to being organised for other people and now at home being a full-time mum and house wife organisation is crucial to do simple things like getting out of the house on time as I’m sure other mums and dads will agree! A major part of this job that I love is that you get to meet so many different people from various cultures and backgrounds and this is where my interpersonal skills come in. I have a very friendly, relaxed but professional approach to all my clients making them feel at ease with speaking to me and the most important thing I apply in all my communications is listening. Effective listening is very important to me as an event and wedding planner I make sure I listen to what my customers want and see how I can realistically meet their demands.
I grew up in a happy secure family unit with my mum, dad and two brothers. I was the middle child and I loved having an older brother looking out for me and a younger brother to look out for. I have very fond memories of my childhood; looking back I remember many get-togethers and parties with my family and friends. My dad is one of nine children and my mum is one of four so I have many aunties, uncles and cousins and when we all get together it is crazy but magical. I come from a working class background where my dad worked very hard and for many hours a day to earn the money to take care of me, my mum and two brothers. At school I earned 10 GCSE’s including 5 B’s and 4 C’s. I stayed on at school to do a GNVQ in Business Studies and earned a Distinction. Money was tight but as I was excelling at school my dad managed to earn enough money to pay fees needed for me to attend university where I gained a 2:1 in my BA (Hons) Marketing degree. After life in the ‘world of work’ and gaining work experience my boyfriend (now husband) and I decided to travel. We sold everything we had to make the money we needed for our round the world trip and enjoyed travelling the globe for 8 months. Once back in the UK we stayed with my mum and dad and found jobs as soon as we could and got ourselves a house. We decided to have a baby and in 2010 our little angel was born and we got married in 2011. Although I’ve always loved organising parties for family and friends it wasn’t until I planned my own wedding that I really wanted to do it as a career which brings me to today where I am currently studying at home to become a professional event and wedding planner and receive the International Event and Wedding Planning Professional (IEWP™) certification.
I offer my services for all types of events and occasions including: parties & celebrations, weddings, funerals and internal & external corporate events. For any of these I offer four levels of service:
• Planning & Preparation
• Day of event co-ordination
• Complete service (all of the above)
This can include:
Meeting at a place of convenience for the client
Introduction to myself and my work including viewing my portfolio
Discussion with the client about the event
Guidance and direction with the event
Advice and recommendation for the event
Pricing structure for services needed
Planning & Preparation
This can include anything and everything that is needed in order to organise the event from picking out invitations to arranging venues and vendors. How involved I get in this process is totally down to what the client would like and how much help is required.
Day of event co-ordination
This includes attending the event to oversee the smooth operation in all areas and to troubleshoot any problems if they arise.
This includes all of the above. If requested I can manage and execute the event from idea to clean-up and evaluation.
Baby Shower - Nichola organised a baby shower for me, my friends and family. It was an unforgettable baby shower with everything organised to perfection. The whole experience was relaxing, enjoyable and everybody's needs catered for. As I am a very particular person Nichola had a challenge on her hands but she exceeded my expectations and the whole experience from planning & organising to the actual event was a really positive experience. I would highly recommend Nichola and her event planning skills and knowledge.
Pearl Wedding Anniversary - We would recommend Nichola Proud to organise any type of party. We had a wonderful surprise party for our 30th Pearl Wedding Anniversary. There were relatives there who we hadn't seen in 15 years or more. The hall was beautifully decorated including some wedding photos. There was a lovely food spread & a disco. The party was enjoyed by all.
Wedding - Nichola has helped me so much with my wedding plans. She has made me feel confident that i can have a perfect day and her wedding plans are truely amazing. I couldn't do this without her.
