I am currently working for the Institute of the Motor Industry as a Business Support Coordinator. One part of my job role is events coordination, and I have found this every entertaining, and I have enjoyed every event so far. I am currently going through the Event & Wedding planning course with QC Learning and once I have finished I hope to start a new career in the event/wedding planning industry.
One part of my day job, is to plan the IMI Annual Dinner 2011. The event will be held at The Landmark Hotel in London in March. Between now and March, there are many things to organise including the guest list, artwork, security as we plan to invite our Patron HRH Prince Michael of Kent, layout of the rooms etc. The work on the event can get very busy and demanding but that is all part of the fun.
I am very organised and love planning events, I also plan after hour work events with colleagues and everyone enjoys them.
The best event I have planned at work was in 2009. The company I currently work for had just been relicensed as it is a Sector Skills Council and was planning to hold a 'Thank you for all your hard work' party. I was told by the Executive Chair that we needed to hold a party somewhere we have never been before and it will only happen once. After some research I found Belowzero in London, this venue has an bar completely made of ice, we had a spending limit so after negotiating with the Events Manager, the Executive Chair gave me the all clear to book the venue for the event.
Once the venue was booked, I invited all the staff then organised the menu, entertainment and travel. We only got 40 minutes in the Ice Bar so we booked a DJ for after.
On the night, everyone enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, the service and of course the Ice Bar - it is still talked 1 year later and everyone says it is the best event they have been too.
In 2009, I also helped the External Affairs with preparations for the IMI Annual Dinner 2010 - this event is held every year and takes 6 months to organise, the venue is booked a year in advance. This is most porbably why i was given the task of organising the event for 2011.
•Wedding Style & Theme - Wedding Designs, including the theme of the day to tables and invitation design
•Venues and Locations - Recommending and confirming the wedding venues and locations in the UK
•Other Weddings Services - Including everything from photography and food, to helping with choosing the perfect dress
•Surprise parties - from sending out all invites to receiving the replies, coordinating the event so you do not risk the chance of getting caught
•Milestones - full coordination of the event, including venue, catering, entertainment and any other ideas you may have
•Corporate events - venue research, organise invites, catering and any other requirements
Just wanted to say what a fantastic job Charlisse Wilson did arranging our work outing to the Ice Bar in London.The choice of food was amazing and included safe options and things such as Reindeer for the more adventurous so there was something for everyone. The drinks were well though out and the timings of the whole evening were perfect with Charlisse staying in charge and making sure everyone was in the right place at the right time. The actual Ice Bar was incredible and something I certainly would never have thought of going before, although after this event I would definitely go back. Congratulations Charlisse on an incredible night out, it must have taken a lot of time to organise and it was definitely a night to remember.
