My name is Rebecca Cargill (soon to be Rebecca McCoy), and I am in love with the idea of making eternal memories for people across Houston, TX.
The idea of becoming an Event/Wedding Planner came to me after starting my own wedding planning this year. I can't tell you how happy I am when I am planning and organizing for that special day. With that being said, I want to expand my experience and love for Event planning through the city of Houston.
What makes me stand a part from other wedding/event planners you may ask?
After working in retail for the past 4 years, I have realized how important customers are, and how important their experience is. No matter what position I am in, or where I am working, my customers come first. Within event planning, my approach is simply designing an event through my customers eyes. I want to make their dream come true!
As one might be searching for a planner, knowing who they are inside and out is very important. One must know who the planner is, and if their vision meets theirs. It is also important to make sure that both parties will click and will be comfortable working together.
As you already know my name, I will start by saying that I have lived in Texas for the last 9 years. I moved to Fort Worth from Orange County, CA and am still definitely a California Girl along with a hint of Southern Bell. After graduating from high school, I chose Baylor University as my Alma Mater. I graduated with a Bachelor of Family & Consumer Science with an emphasis in Fashion Merchandising. Along with this I received a minor in Business Administration.
While I babysat and did some assisting for a freelance writer through my high school years, my first real job was in retail as a Lead Employee at Jamba Juice my Senior year. I started Baylor with that job as well. After my Freshman year I decided to take a break and focus on my college courses. After 2 months I, then, started at Columbus Avenue Day Care where I assisted in taking care of 11 1-2 year old toddlers. As you can see, I love kids!
During my Senior year of college I started working for Justice For Girls. It was there that I would become a Lead Brand Representative who was given the tasks of an assistant manager. While working at Justice For Girls, I transferred to a store in Brea, CA,, while interning for Quiksilver in Huntington Beach, CA for 3 months.
After my internship, I graduated in August 2015, and received an offer as a Recreation & Leisure Planogrammer for Academy Sports & Outdoors in Katy, TX. I accepted the offer from Academy and love what I do here.
After a year and a half of working at Academy my boyfriend of 5 years asked me to marry him. It wasn't until after starting to plan did I realize a calling. I believe that my experiences over the past few years will assist me in every aspect of event planning. From communication, organization, creativity, social skills, and business skills I have it all and will transfer this knowledge to event planning.
Before I begin on this journey I want to be fully prepared, and that is why I am taking QC Event Planning courses as of right now. I look forward to everything that comes my way within this new endeavor!
