My name is Heather Scanlon and I am an event and wedding planner in the Pittsburgh area. I was born and raised in southwestern Pennsylvania and I take pride in being from the “City of Champions”. The city and surrounding neighborhoods have so much to offer an event, simply based off of the beautiful, picturesque environment overlooking this amazing city. Milestone events and special occasions are important memories to have and you should be able to enjoy your event without all of the hustle and bustle. Since I was a little girl I loved playing school. I would organize my school supplies and make my brothers be the students. I found great joy out of being in charge and making things happen. As I became a young adult my skills developed and I was able to use my organizational skills and detail-oriented mind as strengths.

In high school I was the Vice-President of an organization called 11-Y Teens. It was my duty to plan school dances and activities during my junior year. It was the first real experience I had at event planning. When I decided to go to college at the California
University of Pennsylvania for Elementary and Special Education, I went on to receive my Master’s degree as a Reading Specialist in 2011. Being a teacher I have utilized many skills that wedding and event planners use just in a different setting; such as paying close attention to details, creating success, determined to accomplish goals, use creativity, and I adapt to every situation. With all of my teaching experience I found that my love for planning was not diminishing and that I could take my passion a step further.

I got married in 2009 and planned my own wedding. Everything I ever wanted happened on this day. It was the wedding of my dreams, but most importantly was shared with the man of my dreams. From there I began to plan bridal showers, baby showers, and bachelorette parties. These themes included country western, Night on the Town (celebrity red carpet event), Roaring 20's, Luau, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Mardi Gras, Library theme, 80's, Hip Hop style parties. Along with planning these events I worked on designing invitations, thank you cards, food menus, and decorations to go with each theme. During my teaching career I planned several events and helped organize many projects, such as creating the school yearbook, organizing job shops for my students, organizing reward trips for the entire student body, I was the chief manager of Scholastic Book Fairs and monthly book clubs, setup breakfast and lunch fundraisers, helped family members with school projects, locate and book several guest speakers for the school, and I also assisted in planning my 10 year reunion.

After planning all of these events I realized it was the perfect time to start my on event and wedding planning business. I applied to the QC Event Planning School and was able to do the things I love on a much larger scale. I love being able to help clients add the perfect touches to their event. Combined we can put your vision and my ideas together and make this your most memorable event!

“To the Rescue Package” –“I’ve started the process, but don’t know what to do next?”
You have already started the planning, but need some assistance from your professional wedding planner. They will assist you in the planning process and work with you to check those necessary details off your list. Using customized checklists your planner will keep you organized and on track.

To the Rescue Coordination Services include, but are not limited to the following:
 Complimentary 1 hour initial planning consultation
 Ceremony and Venue selection
 Vendor management and review of contracts
 Customized budget plan
 Event schedule for the wedding party and family
 On site meetings and vendor contact throughout the process

"I have known Heather for several years, and over those years, I have attended many events that she has personally planned and executed. The over arching theme of all her events is that she takes the specific personal likes and passions of the people she is planning for into account and incorporates those elements in creative and fun ways into the event itself. I myself had the privilege of having my bachelorette party planned by Heather. She knew that I like more low key events, that I am very proud of my Irish heritage and love to dance. As a result, heather found a delightful Irish restaurant in the area and arranged for my party to occupy the back room. We then were treated to delicious appetizers that Heather knew that I especially like and even what others in the party enjoyed as well. She then organized transportation for all of the guests and we then went to another location to dance. Upon arrival we were greeted and escorted to a private table that had been especially reserved for us with champagne. The whole night that table was ours and it was a great place to rest after all of our dancing. All in all it was phenomenal night, but it was even more special because the small touches of all the things I especially loved were included. Additionally Heather also prepared the centerpieces for my bridal shower which were original and fun. She had incorporated my wedding colors into faux flowers and put a potted plant on each table, with the pot decorated with pictures of me and my fiancé. I loved them and in fact still proudly display them in my home today. No matter what Heather does, she does it in a organized, creative, and personalized way. Clearly I will be asking her to organize other events for me in the future!"
